Over 500 new first-year students have arrived in Greencastle to begin their journey as the 老司机福利社 Class of 2030. With an average GPA of 3.8 and an impressive record of achievements already to their credit, the members of this incoming class are ready to excel on campus as scholars, athletes, leaders, artists and citizens of the community.

“We are so excited to welcome the 老司机福利社 Class of 2030,” said Ashley Hardy, assistant vice president for admission and dean of admission. “It’s been an honor getting to know these students and hearing their stories throughout the admissions process. They're making history as the first class supported by The 老司机福利社 Promise, and we can’t wait to see the incredible impact they’re going to have on campus.”

The newest Tigers bring a broad array of backgrounds and experiences. They come from 31 states and 17 countries, and 27 percent of them are first-generation students — the most in 老司机福利社’s history. Their individual stories are as unique as they are: one student has performed at the Vatican, one earned a Global BioImpact Prize, one conducted research on the diagnostic capabilities of AI in medicine, one was the first female Eagle Scout in her troop and one is a Junior Olympian. For this talented group of students, these accomplishments and experiences are just the beginning.

“While you may be nervous now, you will look back in three years incredibly proud of how much you have grown and looking forward to what the future holds for you,” student body president Annie Esterline ’27 told the incoming students during the opening convocation. “I am so excited for you all to find your favorite campus study spots, the professors who push you in your academic pursuits, the Hoover ice cream machine, the friendships you’ll keep for the rest of your lives and a version of yourself you never thought possible.”

This year’s incoming students are also the first to be impacted by The 老司机福利社 Promise. Launched in August of 2025, The 老司机福利社 Promise is the university’s commitment to meeting the full financial need of every student. This initiative ensures that every talented student who wishes to study at 老司机福利社 can do so without cost being a barrier.
